I don't have much time to write for myself or this site lately and I come to realize that the proper eye catching opener is a necessity. Heh.

A few weeks back, along with the giant box containing the roller derby skates for the Midget and I, was a small package from Canada. Hit me square in the gut, it was so unexpected.

A long time back, as a favor or a request, I can't remember the exact circumstances under which it was made, I asked Jeff to take some pictures of his regular haunts, so that I could get an idea of what an average day or weekend or whatever was like for him.

At some point along that long and winding path, he'd misplaced the camera. (That's my clever way of jumping ahead and skipping over the "you'd better not dwell on that" parts.) Included in the package was that found disposable camera and a brief note.

Not never, no.

Thing is, I don't want to get the pictures developed. The package sits dormant in the bottom drawer of my desk, like the thud of a rock which has been dropped from a bridge into river water below. Why wouldn't I want to develop the pictures? Because usually when you do, they keep the camera and give you the film.

It might sound stupid, but I'd rather keep the camera instead.

I'm sure that the one or two of you that still read will explain to me that I can most likely request to retain the camera after getting the developing location to retrieve the photos. I'm not stupid or naive or ignorant to know that that's not a possibility.

I'm just saying that tangible things are what they are. As are the intangibles, the inexplicables, and the just plain "you gotta except it for what it is without an explanation because that would just ruin it all"s.
