Sucks when you have to cut someone out for good. I've done it to alot of people. You have to be careful not to do it too fast. I'm sure you know best for this circumstance. Just don't get in the habit because it'll leave you with fewer people in your life than you think. And some will have been ditched undeservedly (is that a word?).
